Who We Are

Roundabout Theatre Company is committed to producing the highest quality theatre with the finest artists, sharing stories that endure and providing accessibility to all audiences. We fulfill this mission through the following core programs:

On each of our five stages, the thrill of theatre comes to life each season through classic plays, timeless musicals, and new works by emerging and established playwrights. Through our multi-faceted audience development initiative, ACCESS Roundabout®, we allocate over 42,000 affordable tickets, as low as $10, for our shows. We are proud to offer several special low-priced ticket alternatives to the theatre community.

Roundabout’s New Play Initiative cultivates new works through a three-pronged approach, consisting of commissions, developmental readings and workshops, and full-scale productions through our mainstages and Roundabout Underground, which will celebrate its 10th anniversary in the upcoming season.

Roundabout is also home to one of the most well-respected and comprehensive education programs of any theatre across the country. Education at Roundabout follows the guiding principle to use theatre as a vehicle for stimulating and enriching learning. Ours are not one-time experiences; they’re long-term relationships with students and teachers that have measurable outcomes.

Through our Associate Artist program, we provide an artistic home for ten respected members of the directing and playwriting communities, who receive a stable base of support and opportunities to collaborate with Roundabout at any point in their development.

With a rich theatrical history spanning over 50 years and numerous theatres and venues, Roundabout has produced and collected a wealth of information and documents charting our growth as an institution. These costumes, Playbills, design sketches, photographs, and institutional records are now housed in our comprehensive institutional archives, many of which are available for online review.
