Assistant to the Director of Development

Roundabout Theatre Company, one of the nation’s largest not-for-profit theatres, seeks an energetic, personable individual to join the company as the Assistant to the Director of Development.

This position provides critical support to the entire Development department, primarily working alongside the Director of Development and senior staff.

  • Provide administrative support to the Director including maintaining fast-paced calendar, scheduling meetings, directing and handling incoming calls.
  • Work closely with Board - track all Board gifts, pledges, write and coordinate acknowledgement letters, maintain Board documents and plans for the year.
  • Coordinate Anniversary Campaign activity working closely with Director, Associate Director, Executive Director and Board Committee
  • Maintain departmental monthly revenue reports, working with senior staff, database manager and Director to create annual projections and future year budget goals.
  • Coordinate Development committee agenda, materials, attend meetings, create and distribute minutes.
  • Manage all donor crediting and recognition in print materials and other media. Work closely with the Marketing Department to meet deadlines; work closely with all fundraisers, production management to stay current and on schedule.
  • Manage artist outreach for attendance at special events, meetings, etc. Liaise with press office, artistic and production staff, write request letters, follow up and thank you letters.
  • Manage donor outreach to attendance at play readings and unique opportunities. Work together with senior staff, Executive Director and Development Director. 
  • Manage and coordinate Departmental expense budget, working with senior staff, and the Director of Development; liaise with finance office as needed.
  • Coordinate services of outside consultants and vendors, as needed.
  • Hire and manage Departmental intern(s).
  • Evenings often required for special event assistance.
  • At least one (1) year in a professional fundraising environment, preferably in the arts.
  • Will work with confidential information daily and must be poised, sophisticated and maintain discretion at all times.
  • Computer savvy—Outlook, Excel and Word.
