Teaching Artists
HOW TO BECOME A TEACHING ARTIST
Prospective teaching artists should note that the scheduling of work is flexible and is based on departmental need. Teaching artists will work with students in grades 6–12, educators, families, subscribers and other audiences as needed. Work is primarily distributed through in-school residencies, on-site workshops, subscriber events and other programming.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must have professional theatrical experience in one or more of the following categories:
- Set design
- Costume design
- Sound design
- Lighting design
- Music director
- Acting
- Directing
- Playwriting
- Stage management
Candidates must also be available for work during the school year (September-June) and attend quarterly curriculum meetings and biannual theatre labs.
Bachelors or Masters degrees required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Prior teaching or teaching artist experience a plus
We encourage the application of bilingual artists, minority artists, designers, or those with technician experience.
