SUSTAINING AMERICA'S GREAT MUSICALS
When Roundabout began producing on Broadway in the early 1990s, musical revivals were rarely seen. By focusing on lesser-known gems and vibrant reinterpretations of classics - including five works by Stephen Sondheim - we ushered in a new era and made revivals all the rage.
Since then, Roundabout's commitment to America's only indigenous theatrical art form has been unwavering, with at least one full-scale musical production each season. Musical revivals at Roundabout are not exercises in nostalgia; these works represent an important part of our country's cultural legacy that must be continued.
The Musical Theatre Fund is a critical part of Roundabout's efforts to stage classic musical revivals and to ensure this great American art form is preserved for today and for generations to come. Thanks to your commitment, Roundabout can keep pairing top artists with great musicals so audiences can experience the very best in musical theatre.
20 musicals (and counting) have been featured on Roundabout stages since 1993:
