Director of Individual Giving

Roundabout Theatre Company, the nation’s largest not-for-profit theatre company, is seeking a Director of Individual Giving to be part of a fast-paced Development team, raising $17 million annually. The Director of Individual Giving will provide management and guidance to frontline fundraising staff for both major gifts and individual giving, as well as to a development operations team. The position reports to the Director of Development.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors to achieve all income goals for individual giving
  • Lead and train a multidisciplinary team of frontline fundraisers and development operations staff
  • Directly manage a portfolio of major donors and prospects
  • Network in the community to identify new major gift prospects
  • Provide guidance on annual fund campaign strategy through direct mail, telefunding, and digital fundraising
  • Ensure personalized and efficient communication to all donors and prospects
  • Work with special events team to plan creative donor events and strategize invite lists
  • Develop and monitor annual expense budget and revenue projections for individual giving
  • Provide support to the Director of Development with the Leadership Council advisory board and Development Committee of the Board of Directors
  • Liaise with Marketing, Audience Services, IT, and other departments on various projects that intersect with development fundraising and operations
Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years’ experience of major gift solicitation and staff management required, preferably in the performing arts field. The ideal candidate will have experience with Tessitura or related CRM software. Excellent communication and computer skills also required. The Director of Individual Giving must be a strategic, highly motivated, creative development professional who is also charismatic and a strong leader. A genuine passion for theatre is a plus.
