Education Coordinator for Community Partnerships

SUMMARY


Roundabout Theatre Company, one of the nation’s largest not-for-profit theatres, seeks a dedicated, personable individual to join the company as an Education Coordinator for Community Partnerships.
 
The Education Coordinator is a full-time, year-round position which provides the administrative support and coordination related to producing all Roundabout Community Partnerships programs including the current audience engagement programs and UPSTAGE (Playgoers) guides. The coordinator will also support the assessment of existing partnerships and forming of new partnerships that promote social equity through theatre. The coordinator will collaborate with colleagues across the organization to look for ways to move beyond passive transactional relationships and towards active mutually beneficial partnerships with our community. 
 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 
Community Partnerships
  • Support Education Staff members in assessing existing partnerships and programing
  • Coordinate and support collaborative meetings with Roundabout leadership
  • Take notes during partnership meetings
  • Support the development, implementation, and evaluation of new partnerships and programing  
  • Act as on-site event staff for Audience and Community programs
  • Liaise with theatre staff and conduct post event reports
  • Communicate with partners about logistical needs
Audience Engagement Programing 
  • Establish and maintain ongoing theatre-based activities calendar
  • Book teaching artists for all on-site events
  • Report on theatre-based activities
  • Facilitate communications regarding theatre-based events to all relevant theatre staff - including the support of event memos
  • Meet with the cast of each production to invite them to participate in Theatre Plus and other Education events
  • Create and distribute Theatre Plus memos for each production
  • Create and distribute invitations and signup sheets for artists to participate in talkbacks
UPSTAGE/Publications
  • Coordinate the production of UPSTAGE guides
  • Set schedule and deadlines for production of UPSTAGE guides
  • Schedule planning meetings with UPSTAGE writing team
  • Work with Education Dramaturg to plan interviews
  • Communicate needs of each guide with graphic designer
  • Post guides online and order printed copies
Other Program Support
  • In coordination with fellow Education Staff members, book new work and foster partnerships with schools, theatre, community-based organizations, artists, and community members
  • Coordinate the photo and video documentation of programming and events
  • Assist Staff and Teaching Artists with various programming concerns
  • Advocate for program models by participating and presenting at conferences, workshops, and ongoing involvement with organizations
  • Report on opportunities for funders to observe activities
General Office Support
  • Utilize administrative systems to support programs, such as the increased use of the Tessitura database for constituent and program tracking
  • gg Coordinate with Education Data and PD Coordinator to provide financial, curricular, and statistical reports for internal and external purposes
  • Collect data, work samples, and photographs for final reports
  • Contribute to development of protocols and procedures for tracking data
  • Contribute to grant proposals and reports as needed
  • Coordinate and support annual Student Theatre Arts Festival
  • Support education events as necessary
  • And other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

 
The ideal candidate will be extremely personable and collaborative with excellent interpersonal skills and a roll up your sleeves and get it done attitude. They will also possess the following:

  1. EDUCATION BA or equivalent work experience
  1. EXPERIENCE, LANGUAGE, SKILLS REQUIRED
    1. Minimum of 2 years of professional work experience
    2. Experience working with a broad range of partners in a variety of communities; particularly with a strong understanding of social justice and an ability to engage respectfully with individuals from historically under-represented communities.
    3. A general knowledge of all aspects of professional theatre is encouraged
    4. Knowledge of NYC neighborhoods a plus
    5. Excellent administrative and interpersonal skills
    6. A strong team spirit and willingness to adapt to new and changing programming
    7. Excellent time management skills and attention to detail, ability to take initiative and manage multiple tasks
    8. Excellent Computer software skills: Tessitura, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite (preferred)
    9. Fluency in a language other than English, (i.e. Spanish, Mandarin, Arabic) is a plus
  2. PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    1. Able to lift 30 lbs
    2. Some weekend and evening hours required
