Education Coordinator for School Programs


Roundabout Theatre Company, one of the nation’s largest not-for-profit theatres, seeks an energetic, personable individual to join the company as the Education Coordinator for School Programs.
The Education Coordinator is a full-time, year-round position administrating the day to day operations of Roundabout’s School Partnership programs across New York’s 5 boroughs. Working in collaboration with the School Programs Manager this position will be the point person for several partner schools and will oversee all communication and logistics of a partnership year through being a presence at school sites.


School Partnerships
  • Coordinate the planning and implementation of residency, workshop, and Roundabout field trip activities for corresponding school partners
  • Collaborate with Teaching Artists and school contacts to develop and monitor partnership goals and operating budgets, collaborate with Teaching Artists, RTC Staff, school administration and teachers to establish, monitor partnership goals & operating budgets and implement partnership goals and learning aims.
  • Coordinate the booking of Teaching Artists in residencies and support their partnership with educators
  • Book partner school ticket orders in Tessitura
  • Liaise with RTC Staff to host school partner theatre visits
  • Conduct site visits to school partners to observe and monitor partnership progress, assesses needs and implements changes to programming ad hoc.
  • Collect, maintain, and review program assessment materials
  • Advocate for school partnership models by participating and presenting at conferences, workshops and ongoing involvement with professional organizations
  • Advocate for school partnership funding, as assigned
  • Conduct regular observations of Teaching Artists
  • Collaborate with RTC Staff, school administration and teachers to establish and implement partnership goals and learning aims.
  • Update School Program Manager regularly
  • Work with school leadership to maintain a bulletin board of Roundabout partnership activities in the school
  • Design and develop theatre arts integration in core curriculum classrooms in consultation with RTC staff. 
  • Uphold the standards of Education @ Roundabout and the Theatrical Teaching Framework in the classroom. 
  • Create and disseminate school year RTC Partnership calendar including field trip and participant details
  • Prepare packets of tickets, seat maps and Upstage Playgoers Guides for education groups, as needed
Professional Development
  • Provide administrative support to teachers and Teaching Artists, including advisement on aligning residency work with National, State, and New York City Learning Standards
  • Collaborate with RTC staff in auditioning potential Teaching Artists
After School
  • Support Roundabout Youth Ensemble, as needed
  • Facilitate the creation, implementation and maintenance of professional theatrical procedures including production meetings with school staff and student designers a production calendar.
  • Support school productions
Theatre Access
  • Coordinate and Support Student Matinees
Career Development
  • Coordinate and Support the annual College and Career Readiness Day
  • Support the planning and implementation of IATSE Hidden Career Path Days
  • Mentor full-time seasonal apprentice
Other Program Support
  • Monitor Teaching Artist payroll for associated programs
  • Coordinate the photo and video documentation of programming and events
  • Assist Staff and Teaching Artists with various programming concerns
General Office Support
  • Utilize administrative systems to support programs, such as the increased use of the Tessitura database for constituent and program tracking
  • Coordinate with Education Data and PD Coordinator to provide financial, curricular, and statistical reports for internal and external purposes
  • Collect data, work samples, and photographs for final reports
  • Contribute to development of protocols and procedures for tracking data
  • Contribute to grant proposals and reports as needed
  • Coordinate and support annual Student Theatre Arts Festival
  • Support education events as necessary
  • And other duties as assigned


The ideal candidate will be extremely personable and collaborative with excellent interpersonal skills and a roll up your sleeves and get it done attitude. They will also possess the following:
  1. EDUCATION BA or equivalent work experience
    1. Minimum of 2 years of professional work experience
    2. A general knowledge of all aspects of professional theatre is encouraged
    3. Understanding of and experience with NYC DOE processes
    4. Direct experience managing budgets
    5. Excellent administrative and interpersonal skills
    6. Comfortability interacting with students, educators, parents, artists, and arts education professionals
    7. A strong team spirit and willingness to adapt to new and changing programming
    8. Excellent time management skills and attention to detail, ability to take initiative and manage multiple tasks
    9. Excellent Computer software skills: Tessitura, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite (preferred)
    10. Fluency in a language other than English, (i.e. Spanish, Mandarin, Arabic) is a plus
    1. Able to lift 30 lbs
    2. Some weekend and evening hours required
