GEORGE S. KAUFMAN AND MOSS HART (Original play)<\/strong> first collaborated on Once in a Lifetime (1930), followed by seven other plays including Merrily We Roll Along (1934), You Can\u2019t Take It With You (1936, Pulitzer Prize), The Man Who Came to Dinner (1939) and George Washington Slept Here (1940). Kaufman\u2019s other collaborators included Edna Ferber (The Royal Family, Dinner at Eight, Stage Door), the Gershwins (Of Thee I Sing, Pulitzer Prize) and the Marx Brothers (Animal Crackers and the screenplay for A Night at the Opera). Hart wrote the book for As Thousands Cheer (score by Irving Berlin), Jubilee (Cole Porter) and Lady in the Dark (Weill\/Gershwin); the play Light Up the Sky; the Oscar-nominated screenplay for Gentleman\u2019s Agreement; Judy Garland\u2019s A Star Is Born; and the best-selling memoir Act One.
