David Rockwell, FAIA, is the founder and President of Rockwell Group, a 350-person cross-disciplinary architecture and design firm based in New York with offices in Los Angeles and Madrid. Merging theater, performance, and architecture to create unique narratives for each project, the firm\u2019s work includes hotels and restaurants, theaters, cultural and educational institutions, set designs, products, and exhibitions. His Broadway scenic design credits include <em>Chess, ART, Pirates! The Penzance Musical, Doubt, Into the Woods, She Loves Me<\/em> (Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle awards), <em>On the Twentieth Century <\/em>(Tony nom.), <em>You Can\u2019t Take It With You<\/em> (Tony nom.), <em>Kinky Boots <\/em>(Tony nom.),<em> Lucky Guy<\/em> (Tony nom.), <em>Hairspray<\/em> (Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle nominations). Off Broadway scenic design credits include <em>Ragtime, Oliver!, <\/em>and the Public Theater\u2019s Shakespeare in the Park. For film and television, David design the sets for <em>Team America<\/em> and the 81st, 82nd, and 93rd Oscars (2010 and 2021 Emmy Awards). Honors include the AIANY President\u2019s Award; the Cooper Hewitt National Design Award; a Tony Award for Best Scenic Design for <em>She Loves Me<\/em>; two Emmy Awards; the Presidential Design Award; induction into the James Beard Foundation Who\u2019s Who of Food & Beverage in America; inclusion in Architectural Digest\u2019s AD100 Hall of Fame; Interior Design magazine\u2019s Icon Award; and recognition by Fast Company as one of the most innovative design practices in their annual World\u2019s 50 Most Innovative Companies issue. Known for his commitment to non-profit and community organizations, David Rockwell is the co-founder of the sustainability initiative Cork Collective.
