Roundabout Theatre Company, New York’s leading not-for profit theatre, seeks a Literary Manager. This person centralizes all Literary projects, works on play development/dramaturgy, participates in season programming, and supervises artistic engagement materials and events.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Literary

  • Document all Literary submissions
  • Solicit scripts from agents
  • Compose all Literary correspondence, including rejection letters
  • Read scripts and write coverage to evaluate
  • Recruit and supervise volunteer Script Readers
  • Lead monthly Literary meetings
  • Attend readings and productions on behalf of Roundabout
  • Research outside productions for consideration
  • Participate in play development process
  • Participate in Artistic meetings to discuss season programming
  • Create and maintain relationships with artists and agents

Engagement

  • Work with Education, Marketing, and Archives to create materials and events to enhance engagement with specific productions and with institution as a whole
  • Curate and facilitate special public-facing artistic events

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience, preferably in a similar literary/dramaturgical position
  • Deep knowledge of current plays, playwrights, and directors
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Superior interpersonal skills
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficient
  • College degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Some travel as well as weekend and evening hours should be anticipated
