As you wait for the play to begin, take in the set. What objects can you point out? What do you observe about the colors, size, or other qualities? Do any of these elements bring up any questions? How does your observation of the set affect your perceptions of what they play is about?

DURING THE SHOW

FEEL

While you experience the play, try to notice if there are any moments when the energy in the room shifts. What preceeded the shift? How did you experience this moment? Did you have an emotional or physical response?

OBSERVE

While you experience the play, try to notice when the audience has a shared reaction (e.g. laughter, gasps, tears). What design elements (scenic, lighting, sound, illusion) contributed to the audience’s reaction?

AFTER THE SHOW

REFLECT

Ask someone around you for their perspective on the moment that you felt a shift in the energy in the room. Did they also feel a shift? When did they feel a shift?

What did you learn about each character when they spoke directly to the audience?

Recall a specific artistic aspect of the production (e.g performance, music/sound, lighting, costumes, props). How did this specific artistic aspect help to tell the story of the play?
