A Broadway Legend

Remembering Artie Gaffin

Remembering Artie Gaffin

We at Roundabout are heartbroken at the passing of Artie Gaffin, one of the kindest and most generous stage managers who has ever worked with us.

A Broadway legend, Artie was loved by the artists, crew, and staff at our theatres. Everyone who knew him wanted to work with him.

When we think back on our productions, Artie is at the forefront of so many cherished memories. He provided so much love (and snacks!) for everyone in the theatre. Long rehearsal hours and 8 shows a week were nothing when we had Artie in the building.

Simply put, people like Artie are the reason that shows happen. He stage managed many of our productions including Betrayal, Nine, Cabaret, Harvey, An Act of God (rental at Studio 54), The Philanthropist, Les Liaison Dangereuses, Pygmalion, and Pacific Overtures. It has been an honor to call him a dear friend of Roundabout for over 20 years.

He was truly the best in the business and, above all, made everyone feel at home. We will deeply miss Artie and wish that we could have spent more time with him. Our hearts are with his family, especially our Danny.
