A Roundabout TheatreLab workshop by Nathan Alan Davis.
In this playwriting workshop, students will engage in an in-depth analysis of four playscripts and write the beginnings of four new plays of their own. During each two-hour session, about an hour will be dedicated to script analysis/discussion and about an hour will be dedicated to generative writing exercises/prompts.
Students will be asked to obtain copies of the following plays and read them in advance of each class session. While not the only place available, the plays can be found on Amazon (including used copies). We also highly recommend checking your local library for virtual copies, or your local/independent bookstore. The Brothers by Kathleen Collins can be found within an anthology of her work called Notes from a Black Woman’s Diary.
All sessions to be conducted via Zoom.
