SESSION ONE | November 16, 11am-1pm EST
ESTABLISHING YOUR VISION
In our intro week we will discuss how to fill one's cup. How to stay inspired, find resources you need especially in this difficult time and much more. Directors need nourishment and we will discuss how to get it. Also, we will discuss how to find designers and the impact of design on world building.
SESSION TWO | November 23, 11am-1pm EST
EXPLORING THE PLAYWRIGHT/DIRECTOR RELATIONSHIP
Working with a writer is a very special type of collaboration. Finding the right playwright for you can be life and career changing. Every pairing is different but there are tools to navigate the process from inception to incubation to opening night. We will look at several successful director-playwright duos and explore why their collaboration work as well as discuss what to do when it doesn't.
SESSION THREE | November 30, 11am-1pm EST
GENERATING YOUR OWN WORK
It is important to see yourself as an author of the work. Here we will explore how to generate your own works for performance whether that be through devising, writing or other methods. How do you yourself become a maker and support your own stories, vision, and plays?
SESSION FOUR | December 7, 11am-1pm EST
MULTIDISCIPLINARY WORK AND CREATING ACROSS MEDIUMS
In this challenging time we are learning the many ways that directors can and must create work. Gone are the days of only working on a proscenium stage. We are seeing director create digital work, insta-plays, movies and much more. Here we will discuss various technologies and ways for you to pivot your work across mediums.
