Dear Friend,

Welcome to the world premiere of Mansa Ra’s …what the end will be in the Laura Pels Theatre at the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center.

Mansa Ra enjoyed a triumphant Roundabout Underground and New York debut with Too Heavy for Your Pocket in 2017. When we program a writer in the Underground, we also commission their next play with the intent of graduating emerging writers to our bigger spaces as they progress in their careers. …what the end will be is Mansa’s highly anticipated commission.

…what the end will be tells the story of three generations of gay, Black men negotiating love, loss, and identity under the same roof. It’s a story of fathers and sons, coming to intergenerational understanding, and accepting the constancy of change. This script moved me when I first read it, and over the course of the last two years, Mansa has found ways to make the play resonate even more eloquently and powerfully through the pain, challenge, and growth that each of us experienced.

I am also thrilled to welcome back director Margot Bordelon after her previous Roundabout productions of Mansa’s Too Heavy for Your Pocket and Selina Fillinger’s Something Clean. It has been exciting to watch Margot and Mansa’s collaboration blossom over the many years they have both worked with us.

As always, I ask you to share your thoughts on this play and our whole season by emailing me at ArtisticOffice@roundabouttheatre.org.

Thank you again for joining us, and I hope you enjoy …what the end will be.

Sincerely,

Todd Haimes
