Summary:  

The Marketing Fellow will learn about and support the daily essential operations of a nonprofit Marketing team of nine, reporting to the Associate Director of Marketing. The Fellow will be trained to use multiple programs including but not limited to Tessitura, Sprout Social, and Wordfly, and will sharpen their creative and administrative marketing skillset. The Marketing Fellow will also assist with events and partnerships related to Roundabout’s productions, focusing specifically on a Broadway musical, gaining experience in both planning logistics and relationship management. After completing the Marketing Fellowship, we expect that the Fellow will be ready for a wide variety of positions, such as marketing roles at any organization, administrative roles at other arts and entertainment organizations, and/or advertising/media roles in other industries.

Job Responsibilities:

55% (~22 hours per week) - Daily Operations of Department 

  • Create and share digital assets such as graphics, video content and photos 
  • Write and proofread communication materials and coordinate internal approval processes from key staff members 
  • Capture content at Roundabout’s productions, events, and workshops 
  • Provide day of event support, including set up and break down, content capture, and greeting partners 
  • Research and update department on industry trends 
  • Contribute to the department’s creative brainstorming  


30% (~10 hours per week) – Long term projects
  

  • Support the team in season-long planning leading up to Roundabout’s Spring Musical – including idea generation, research, partner outreach and pitching, and event/partnership execution.  
  • Meet and learn from experts in the Broadway industry 


10% (~16 hours per month) – Mentoring and Professional Development/Training Events

  • Meeting with an interdepartmental mentor once a month  
  • Fall/Spring Summit  
  • Alumni Panel & Events
    Meet & Greets with other theatre companies and their workforce program cohorts
    Attendance at APAP Conference  


5% (~8 hours per month) – Weekly Seminars and Workshops

  • Meet + Q&A with all Senior Staff at Roundabout  
  • Professional Skills Workshops such as Planning a Season, Production Budgets, Professional Organizations for Arts Administrators, Resume Review & Interview Practice, etc.  

What You Bring to the Marketing Department:

  • Digital literacy and clerical skills (i.e. using office equipment and tools such as computers and document management systems, basic data entry, scheduling meetings)  
  • High proficiency in both verbal and written communication (i.e. must be comfortable with picking up the phone, drafting and sending emails, presenting)  
  • Aptitude and excitement for learning how to use technology and digital platforms 
  • Must be able to work at a desk for long periods of time and be willing to travel and perform tasks off-site for events  
  • Must have the ability to work some weekday nights and weekends for events 
  • Interest in traditional, digital, and event marketing – creative thinkers and detail-oriented candidates are encouraged to apply  
  • A self-starter attitude with the ability to multitask and collaborate, but also work autonomously when asked 
  • Graphic design experience a plus
