Meet the 2019 Apprentice Class
Posted on: December 9, 2019
The Roundabout Career Development Alumni Program strives to promote strong relationships and professional connections with all of its intern and apprentice alumni.
Through meaningful engagement, communication, and the shared experience of live theatre, Roundabout Career Development Alumni serves as a link between alumni, administrators, and artists of Roundabout Theatre Company and the arts industry more broadly.
“I always felt like a valuable member of the team and was trusted with major responsibilities. These experiences really helped me to grow in my professional development. They also helped me to find my chosen career path—advertising and media! The apprenticeship program offers such an important, valuable experience to those who are lucky enough to participate. The environment is safe and nurturing, but also demanding and real. It really helps to prepare you for a career in theater administration—whatever your ultimate focus or goal.”
— Tyler Beddoe, Roundabout Account Services Apprentice, 2012–13
“My favorite thing about my apprenticeship was that, as promised in my interviews, I really did feel like part of the staff. I felt like I was given real responsibilities and that I was part of getting the job done.”
— Julie Boor, Roundabout Marketing Apprentice, 2011–12
“The highlight of my apprenticeship was working with the Student Ambassadors. The program was new my year and not only was working with the students wonderful, being able to see the program develop from the ground up was a wonderful learning experience. Be willing to jump in, even if it's not directly your job, and stay positive about it.”
— Maia Collier, Roundabout Education Apprentice, 2012–13
“Ask questions! If someone in is interesting or inspiring to you, ask them to get coffee. Use this time wisely because you won’t be the intern forever!”
— Nikki Diloreto, Roundabout Artistic/Literary Apprentice, 2012–13
“Roundabout gave me the tools to understand what goes into putting on a show from reading scripts to raising the curtain. I studied communications and advertising in college and Roundabout's program really filled in the gaps that I was missing about the theater industry.”
— Natalia Orzel, Roundabout Digital Marketing Apprentice, 2014–15
“Without the connections that I created at Roundabout I can firmly state that I would not hold the position that I do within the Theater industry. The support I received from my supervisors in each of the positions I held were essential in my job search at the end of my internship/apprenticeship.”
— Bethany Nothstein, Roundabout Marketing Apprentice, 2011–12; Special Events Intern, 2011
“I credit my entire apprenticeship with helping to get me to where I am today.”
— Andy Lieberman, Roundabout Management Apprentice, 2015–16
“Being able to communicate and work with people on different teams was huge. It allowed me to learn how to work collaboratively and keep an open mind.”
— Emily Ruderman, Roundabout Education Apprentice, 2014–15
“Roundabout gave me the opportunity to own certain aspects of my position. There was so much trust between myself and my colleagues. In my department, we were part of the team and our ideas mattered. Especially being new to New York City, it was important to have the trust and confidence to move forward in my career.”
— Maureen Keleher, Roundabout Marketing Apprentice, 2012–13
“The problem solving and personality management I learned while an apprentice and company manager at Roundabout were invaluable. Both are very transferable skills with wide appeal to employers.”
— John O'Brien, Roundabout Management Apprentice 2015–16; Company Manager 2016–17
“Roundabout charged me with important production and operational tasks that helped augment my skill sets in theatrical management and leadership.”
— Jennifer Almgreen, Roundabout Audience Services Apprentice, 2011–12
